We are extremely pleased and honored to be nominated for an award for the very first time! We would have broken the news sooner but we were told the same week of the snow!
Now is the right time to spread the word of how a small charity has made the shortlist for the Epic Awards, a yearly event which shines a spotlight on the achievements of voluntary groups all across the UK and the Republic of Ireland. Of all the charities across the country, the Swadlincote Asperger’s Society was surprised to have made the shortlist!
For the next few weeks we will be publicizing the news like never before, and you can help too!
You can cast your vote here or by clicking on the leaflet above! We’ve created an easy to remember short link too! Just type in bit.ly/voteswad into any web browser.
You can also reshare this blog on social media with #epicawards2018 and @voluntaryarts tags.
Feel free to download and save the image of the leaflet to use as you see fit.
The voting closes on April 10th but we’ll be sure to remind you in the coming weeks!
In the snowy week of December last year, we had the pleasure working with performance artist “Gobscure” to build a performance piece from scratch, using just our own ideas, and by creating all our own material, in just five days!
Our members showed great commitment in braving the snow that week to put something special together, and it was worth it!
Now our very special guest mentor, who made it all possible, has sent us this video – an ode to the Swadlincote Asperger’s Society…
We have some more meeting dates in the run up to Christmas which will result in another special exhibition…
Thursday 16th November 2-4pm…
Prop making for our exhibition (see leaflet) at our usual People Express venue.
Thursday 30th November 3-4pm…
Our Annual General Meeting to reflect on our achievements in the past year, and the plans for 2018. Everyone welcome! Refreshements provided!
Monday 11th December to Friday 15th December…
Join performance artist and writer ‘gobscure’ for a week long performance residency from Monday 11th-Friday 15th December. Open to all vulnerable adults, including people with Aspergers, Autism, mental health issues and disabilities. This is an opportunity for participants to make a piece of performance from scratch using their own ideas and creating their own material, and then have a chance to share with an invited audience at the end of the week. The week long project is free to take part in but spaces are limited so please book. To do so or for more information ring or text Kalila on 07739 088066 to secure your place. Times as follows…
