March Updates😎

The Swadlincote Asperger’s Society has been busy in the run-up to World Autism Awareness Week (27 March–2 April 2017).

We recently enjoyed a buisness trip to Derby Theatre to watch the acclaimed one-man show The Misfit Analysis,” starring Cian Binchy (all above), who worked as the consultant on the stage version of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.”

One of our key members was interviewed for an article about the work People Express does to empower people in Ashby Life Magazine (just below).

We were also awarded £800 from the University of Derby Community Fund to train up our ever growing number of committee members.

We’ve also been contacted by BBC Radio Derby and Comic Relief about our community work.

The SAS will be kicking up publicity during March, and the official group meetings themselves will resume in April.

We’ll be sure to keep you posted!

First meeting of 2017!

A reminder that the first meeting of 2017 will be this Thursday 12th January, at the usual time of 3pm-5.30pm, at our usual beloved venue of the People Express building.

We will begin the meeting with all the latest news, a discussion of what we would like to achieve this year, followed by our usual art and craft therapy workshop.

Come on down and beat the winter blues!

Merry Christmas and a Happy 2017!

This time last year all our funding for the year had been spent on our community project for vulnerable adults, and despite its popularity, the future of the project was uncertain.

But this time round we have secured new funding from the University of Derby Community Fund, and for the second time in a row, the Big Lottery Fund.

You can rest assured the group will begin again at the usual time of 3pm – 5.30 on Thursday 12th January 2017!

The SAS would like to wish it’s members, followers, and supporters a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Christmas Wrap Up!

Join the Swadlincote Asperger’s Society for their first Annual General Meeting, followed by a Winter Social.

Join us at The Old Pressing Shop on Thursday 1st December from 3.30pm-5.30pm to learn what the group have been up to in the last year and their plans for the future.

The Winter Social will also be an opportunity to create your very own Linocut Christmas Card with artist Jen Johnson.

If you would like to come along please RSVP to kalila.storey@people-express.org.uk

This will be our last meeting before Christmas, but we will see you in the new year!
